During 2022-2024, GEUS has worked on the maturation of potential CO2 storage sites in near-shore and onshore Denmark. New 2D seismic data has been acquired for Jammerbugt, Stenlille, Havnsø, Gassum, Rødby and Thorning.

Below is a list of new and legacy seismic data as well as reports and other data that has been or will be made available for the maturation of CO2 storage sites in Denmark. The list will be updated continuously and may be subject to changes.

Work packages

GEUS offers the following work packages tailored for CCS operators.

  1. An overview of seismic and well coverage with a focus on the North Sea east of the Central Graben as well as the Danish inner seaways
  2. Regional seismic grids (TWT) in the North Sea over the main stratigraphic surfaces based on legacy interpretations. These include (a) base Zechstein (= top Auk Sst Permian reservoir), (b) top Zechstein, (c) top Bunter Sst Formation reservoir, (d) top Triassic (= top Gassum Fm reservoir), (e) Middle Jurassic (= top Haldager Sandstone Fm reservoir), (f) top Jurassic (= intra seal), (g) base Chalk (= top seal), top Chalk (= alternative reservoir)
  3. Locally updated picks (reinterpretations) of top of key North Sea reservoir surfaces (Haldager Sand Fm, Gassum Fm & Bunter Sand Fm) reflecting the status of ongoing GEUS research
  4. Polygons over 1) salt pillows and 2) salt diapirs from the entire Danish area 5. Fault lines for the main faults in the Danish area – offshore as well as onshore.

  7. Common risk segments maps for siliciclastic reservoir/seal pairs.

One-day workshop at the GEUS core storage facility in Tåstrup:

  1. Presentation of the deposition, known distribution and characteristics of the Haldager Sand Fm reservoir
  2. Presentation of the deposition, known distribution and characteristics of the Gassum Fm reservoir
  3. Presentation of the deposition, known distribution and characteristics of the Auk Fm reservoir.

Price: 250.000 DKK. The availability is dependent on the time schedule of the relevant researchers.

  2. Focal mechanism analysis for geomechanically purposes.

  1. Lithostratigraphic database updated to 1997 with well picks tabulated in depth and TWT
  2. A fully updated version can be made pending additional funding, estimated price: 200.000 DKK.
  1.  VSP/Checkshot data and reports for 15 selected wells (S-1X, Erik-1X, R-1X, C-1X, Ibenholt-1, Luna-1, Elna-1, Inez-1, F-1X, K-1X, Felicia-1, Thisted-4, J-1X, Terne-1 & Hans-1). The database contains:
  2. Available VSP/Checkshot time/depth pairs in tabulated form
  3. Copies of available VSP/Checkshot reports
  4. Copies of available VSP/Checkshot tapes.

Price: 123.000 DKK

  1. Overview of available well data (including final well reports) for each relevant stratigraphic interval
  2. Petrophysical data from the 10 key wells located in the most prospective part of the Norwegian-Danish Basin and adjacent Ringkøbing-Fyn High in the North Sea and from 4 key wells located onshore immediately next to the Hanstholm Structure: the far largest structural closure in the Danish part of the Norwegian-Danish Basin
  3. Lithostratigraphic database of Danish wells updated to 1997 with well picks tabulated in depth and TWT
  4. Petrophysical log interpretation of these North Sea key wells: Lithological subdivision of the reservoirs into sandstone- and mudstone-dominated intervals based on well log-data (e.g. Gamma ray, sonic, density, resistivity, neutron porosity, caliper, bit size diameter)
  5. TechLog-project including the derived logs describing the petrophysical parameters for these wells
  6. LAS-files exported from the TechLog-project that are easily imported into, e.g., Petrel.

Price: 308.000 DKK

  1. TWT grids of the main stratigraphic surfaces based on legacy interpretations of the inner Danish seaways and onshore Denmark
  2. Locally updated picks (reinterpretations) of key surfaces in the inner seaways and onshore Denmark (typically centered on and around structural closures) reflecting the status of ongoing GEUS research
  3. Seismic velocity cube for the inner seaways and onshore Denmark reflecting the status of ongoing research.

Price: 238.000 DKK. Availability dependent on ownership of included data. 

Overview of available well data (including final well reports) for each relevant stratigraphic interval

  1. Petrophysical data from the 50+ wells located in the most prospective part of the Norwegian-Danish Basin and eastern North German Basin including wells drilled on and/or next to the Gassum, Thorning, Havnsø, Rødby and Stenlille structures
  2. Lithostratigraphic database of Danish wells updated to 1997 with well picks tabulated in depth and TWT
  3. Petrophysical log interpretation and reservoir characterization of these onshore wells: Lithological subdivision of the reservoirs into sandstone- and mudstone-dominated intervals based on well log-data (e.g. Gamma ray, sonic, density, resistivity, neutron porosity, caliper, bit size diameter)
  4. TechLog-project including the derived logs describing the petrophysical parameters for these wells
  5. LAS-files exported from the TechLog-project that are easily imported into e.g., Petrel.

Price: 600.000 DKK

Semi-regional structural model for each of the eight CCS structures in play for each of their primary reservoirs.

  1. Updated interpretation of top of reservoir surface over the reservoir interpreted as being connected
  2. Polygons of interpreted connected reservoir fairways
  3. Polygons of salt piercement structures in and around the reservoir fairway
  4. Fault polygons in and around the connected reservoir zones
  5. Named fault planes of main faults for each of the structures.

Price: new WP, ask for price

  1. Petrography data from Arnum-1 (5 analyses), Hønning-1 (4 analyses), Rødby-1 (2 analyses), Tønder-3 (16 analyses), Tønder-4 (22 analyses), Tønder-5 (12 analyses)
  2. Core analysis data on porosity, gas permeability and grain density from the samples where the analyses were possible (2/3 of the samples).

Price: 50.000 DKK

  1. Compilation of existing leak-off data from 25 wells from final well reports available through the GEUS databases. The data will be presented in tables with stratigraphy following GEUS existing reference stratigraphy
  2. Update of the report with mud weight data. Data presented in tables and depths plot well-by-well with standard hydro and lithostatic pressure profiles. Additional cost: 70.000 DKK.

Price: 80.000 DKK

Analytical package on potential sealing in Rødby-1 core, including core and cutting data on Vinding Fm mudstones, Oddesund Fm mudstones, Ørslev Fm mudstones, Røt Fm /Ørslev Fm evaporites and Intra Bunter Sandstone Fm mudstones

  1. Core data will inlclude sedimentological logs, petrography, plug data poro/perm/density (dependent on core condition), XRF, grain size, and clay mineralogy (XRD)
  2. Cuttings data will include photo database of washed cuttings, XRF measurements, grain size, and clay mineralogy (XRD).

Price: 400.000 DKK. The availability is dependent on the time schedule of the relevant researchers and laboratories.

Analytical package on potential sealing units in Gassum-1 core (Vedsted Fm mudstones, Fjerritslev Fm mudstones, Oddesund Fm mudstones and Ørslev Fm mudstones) and Vinding-1 core (Vedsted Fm mudstones)

  1. Core data will inlclude sedimentological logs, petrography, plug data poro/perm/density (dependent on core condition), XRF, grain size, and clay mineralogy (XRD)
  2. Cuttings data will include photo database of washed cuttings, XRF measurements, grain size, and clay mineralogy (XRD).

Price: 400.000 DKK. The availability is dependent on the time schedule of the relevant researchers and laboratories.

Analytical package on the potential sealing in Stenlille cores, including core and cuttings data on the Fjerritslev Fm mudstones

  1. Core data will inlclude sedimentological logs, petrography, plug data poro/perm/density and capillary entry pressure (dependent on core condition), XRF, grain size, and clay mineralogy (XRD)
  2. Cuttings data will include photo database of washed cuttings, XRF measurements, grain size, and clay mineralogy (XRD).

Price: 400.000 DKK. The availability is dependent on the time schedule of the relevant researchers and laboratories.

Fresh core data from analogue location where seal and reservoir units are situated in a relatively shallow depth and can be drilled and cored. Location depends on relevance for selected structure (Havnsø, Rødby, Gassum and/or Thorning). The analytical program will include sedimentological logs, petrography, plug data poro/perm/density and capillary entry pressure, XRF, grain size, clay mineralogy (XRD), assessment og past burial depth, and stratigraphic analyses.
