Others
Leader of a number of large research projects related to mapping and
hydrocarbon exploration in East and North Greenland funded mainly by the oil
industry, the Ministry of Environment and Energy (EFP-programme), the Danish
Research Councils and the Carlsberg Foundation.
Expedition leader on several expeditions to Greenland, the largest with
>20 participants.
Scientific coordinator of the IKU-project "Upper Paleozoic Geology in the
Barents Sea and adjacent areas", 1990–1994 (sponsored by eight major,
Norwegian-based oil companies). Responsible for "Resources in the sedimentary
basins of North and East Greenland" – a joint project between GEUS and the
Geological Institutes at the University of Copenhagen and the University of
Århus sponsored by the Danish Research Councils TUPOLAR programme, 1995–1999
(external funding 11 million DKK).
Have participated in more than 20 expeditions to East and North Greenland
since 1977, 4 expeditions to Svalbard and 2 to Arctic Russia.
