The objective of “The Sea –Change project” is primarily to investigate the spatial pattern of the sea bottom bedforms in the form of sedimentation patterns, moraines, contourites, and iceberg plough marks caused by the changes in the climate, the sea currents, the sea level, and the drift of icebergs since the LGM (Late Glacial Maximum) and during the Holocene. In order to get the full understanding of the geological development in this area, the investigation also expands downwards below the sea-bottom. High resolution seismic data used to carry out this project are of the type: Multibeam Echo-Sounder, Sub-Bottom Profiler, Sparker, Air-Gun, Side-Scan-Sonar and Sediment Cores.
Within the Nuup Kangerlua Fjord system at Nuuk, the primary focus is concerning the deglaciation history. High resolution sparker data and air-gun data are used as background for the interpretation and will afterwards be combined with existing cores in order to get information on the sediment strata and a date.
