Naja Mikkelsen is a marine geologist. Her research interests are focused on global climate change, paleoclimate and paleoceanography with emphasis on climate processes in high latitudes and the Arctic. She has a long sea-going experience and has participated in marine geological expeditions in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans; around Greenland and with ice breakers in the Arctic Ocean. She has also conducted several seasons of field work in Greenland and participated in scientific ice camps on ice floes in the Arctic Ocean. She has initiated and coordinated several both national and international research projects and participated in a number of EU-funded research projects. She is presently member of several international and national committees and boards focused on Arctic research
