  • Earlier work has suggested that warmer that present conditions during the mid Holocene triggered a large portion of the west Greenland Ice Sheet to retreat behind its present-day position. The primary objective with this project is to test for the sensitivity of this portion of the Greenland Ice Sheet to mid Holocene warming and Neoglacial cooling. We aim to do so by using multi proxy records from proglacial threshold lakes. In addition we aim to use these records to reconstruct environmental evolution at the sites, which is important for understanding what drives Greenland Ice Sheet change. Fieldwork has been carried out at Paakitsoq, north of Jakobshavn Isbrӕ and at Upernavik Isstrøm.
