Architecture and morphology of depositional sequences in and around the Setubal Canyon on the Portuguese Atlantic Margin. Evidence from seismic data
Lærke Therese Andersen, Jørgen Overgaard Leth and Antoon Kuijpers
The poster present the architecture and morphology of depositional sequences in the area of Setubal Canyon (the continental shelf of the Lisbon margin, Portugal) have been investigated by the use of high-resolution sparker seismic data and X-Star subbottom profiler information collected during the EUROSTRATAFORM project. The data was collected during three cruises onboard the NIOZ research vessel R/V Pelagia in the period 2002 to 2004. In addition, reprocessed (2004) sleevegun seismic data from a former STEAM survey has been used. The latter survey had been carried out in 1994 by NITG-TNO, The Netherlands. The aim has been to study the sedimentary sequences and features in order to obtain information on shelf-to-deep sea sediment transport processes on the North Atlantic margin in the area of Setubal canyon, Portugal.
